Read Your Bible!

The New Year is upon us and it is typically a time of evaluation and strategizing for the year ahead. I hesitate to mention resolutions, because let's be honest, no one keeps their resolutions! But what of habits that we could find extremely beneficial and happen to coincide with the calendar change?!

In 2016 I want to encourage you to read your Bible. Don't do it just to add something the already full list, but do it because you see it as a lifeline, a source of strength and the place you meet Jesus daily. Read it to know, love, obey, enjoy, trust, fellowship, and glorify God more. Maybe it is helpful to think of it as a meal you need for the energy to get through the day!

I use the Robert Murray M'Cheyne reading plan and there are many other plans you can tap into. You could even just decide to work through books of the Bible until you have consumed it all without the pressures of a calendar. Most Bible apps, YouVersion and ESV for sure, have built in selections of reading plans and they can help you keep track.

Reading your Bible will not make God love you more (Jesus already handled that for you) but it will help you see the glories of the gospel more clearly and frequently. So why not dive in?!
