Remember GX: The E People
The E people (pronounced like the “uh” sound in “Uptown”) speak a blended language made up of five neighboring minority languages. Though proud of their culture, they don’t like the nickname “Wu-se” (meaning “five-colored”) given to them. Concentrated in the two counties of Luocheng and Rongshui, these people 40,000 strong are a branch of the official Zhuang ethnic minority. The E people practice animism and there are currently no known believers.
Psalm 33:12 “Blessed is the nation whose G is the LORD, the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!”
May He choose the E people to hear the good news and become his heritage.
Remember GX: Younuo
Famed across China, the Younuo people (also known as the Red Yao) live in a protected tourist area that adds a high cost to visiting them in their homeland. For those willing to front the entry fee, visitors will catch sight of their bright red traditional clothing, the source of their name the “Red Yao.” Younuo women proudly maintain their trademark, body-length locks with regular washes using locally-grown and fermented rice haircare products.
Psalm 122:9 “For the sake of the house of the LORD our God, I will seek your good.”
Despite difficulties in directly visiting Younuo homes, may the crimson blood of JC become the banner of the Red Yao ch to come.
