Remember GX: Zhuang of Northeast Nanning

Surrounded by fragrant jasmine flower groves, with their savory, spicy, and tangy white fish sashimi on hand, the Zhuang of Northeast Nanning absorb the best of life around them.

710,000 speakers strong, they live just to the east of Guangxi’s capital Nanning, where Cantonese language and culture influence is strong. Many speak the trade language, Pinghua, which blends the local Cantonese dialect with Zhuang. When asked what language they would like to have a novel or TV show in, many people around these areas answer "Pinghua."
