Remember GX: Linghua

Have you ever met someone whose accent told you exactly where they’re from? That’s the case for the Linghua people of Guangxi, whose Linghua language is a fusion of Mandarin, Miao, and other languages. Most speakers of Linghua have been officially counted as the Han Chinese majority.

Living in crowded mountainous communities, there is little spare land available for the Linghua to cultivate rice and other crops. Many Linghua villages have water fed to them through bamboo pipes leading from the nearest river or stream. They practice ancestor worship. There are no known Christians among the 20,000 Linghua speakers. The Linghua can be reached through the use of Chinese materials. 

The Linghua are like sheep without a shepherd. They need someone to introduce their families and communities to the Good Shepherd.

“How can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone [sharing] with them? And how can anyone [share] unless they are sent? “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” Rom 10:14-15
